Tailor-made Hook and Loop fasteners now also available with finished curves
Cutting Hook en Loop fasteners and other webbing materials has been a popular additional service at StrapRyte® for quite some time. For many customers, hook and loop fasteners and other webbings are cut to the desired length. Additionally, much of the tape material is cut to size for use in straps and other applications. In addition to the standard straight cutting of hook and loop and webbings, StrapRyte® has recently introduced the option to finish the ends of with curves. This enhances the appearance of the strap, tape or webbing, reduces potential skin irritation from sharp corners, or provides clearer guidance on where the closure should be opened.
What finishes are possible for custom-cut Hook and Loop?
Straight cutting is the most commonly applied option, available for all hook and loop fasteners with a width ranging from 16mm to 100mm. An oval end can be cut for products with widths of 16mm, 20mm, and 25mm. A double oval is also possible for tapes with a width of 20mm and 25mm. Lastly, hook and loop l can also be cut with rounded corners, currently available for widths of 20mm and 25mm.
New shapes and widths will be added later.
Which materials can be supplied with rounded ends?
All sewable and adhesive hook and loop fastener – both the hook and loop sides – can be provided with an oval end or rounded corners. This also applies to sewable and adhesive micro hook, mushroom, water-resistant hook tape, and hook and loop in one. Velour products are not suitable for cutting in general, especially with rounded ends. Also, synthetic webbing materials like polypropylene and nylon webbings cannot have rounded ends. For cutting synthetic tape material, a hot knife cutting machine is required to process the ends in a way that prevents fraying. Therefore, for synthetic material, it is only possible to cut it straight to size.
